MAHECAS held a very successful AGM at the Nigeria Centre, Rusholme, Manchester.
The AGM began at 2pm and most Mahecas members and many Mahecas friends were present.
The Executive reported on the events of the last year.
It was very pleasing to see that fund-raising last year was very successful.
The finances are thus now strong enough to consider new directions.
The membership felt that the 3 district hospitals at Ntchisi, Chikwawa and Chitipa should continue to receive aid from Mahecas for a further year.
After this period a review should take place with the probability of Mahecas embarking on new projects.
Dr Edward Kadzombe reported back for the projects committee which is currently considering new directions.
The current executive was elected in 1999 and Elections were due at this AGM.
The membership voted to retain the committee for a further two years.
As a result, all Executive members will be retaining their positions.
Mr Francis Mseka acted as electoral officer.
The evening was rounded off with a very enjoyable disco into the early hours.
Well done to Mrs Iris Kumwenda for organising an excellent event.
